The Big House Prayer Room exists to create a resting place for the King of Glory. Jesus taught us to pray, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." As we tap into the worship and adoration of God that is happening in the throne room of heaven (Rev 4-5), we catch the vision for what our times of corporate prayer can emulate and release into the earth. We meet weekly at the Big House Offices located at 3177 Virginia Beach Blvd Virginia Beach, VA.

Hello Big House Family!

In the last couple of months, our community has stepped into a significant seasonal shift. Do you feel it?  Like Pastor Ian mentioned at the beginning of April, I want to remind us that the Lord has been intentionally disorienting us from familiar things for the purpose of re-orienting us into His plans and purposes.

As many of you know, we've been steadily moving toward the completion of our new church home. This building project is something much deeper than blueprints, permits, drywall, and construction schedules. Along the way, we've sensed the Lord inviting us into something that reaches beyond a physical building and into the heart of who we are as a people.

This summer, we'll be journeying through the book of Nehemiah. If you aren’t familiar, this story is all about rebuilding, perseverance, unity, prayer, and the faithfulness of God in the midst of opposition.

As we've prayed and prepared, one theme has continued to rise to the surface: before Nehemiah rebuilt a wall, he took ownership of the state of his city and community in the place of prayer and action.

The story of Nehemiah is not ultimately about construction, but rather consecration. It is about a people who hear God's invitation, join their hearts together in unity, and take responsibility for the work He has placed before them.

We believe the Lord is inviting us into that same posture.

Throughout Scripture, whenever God desired to accomplish something significant among His people, He first called them to gather in prayer. Prayer is not merely preparation for the work of ministry, it is the work of ministry. It is where hearts are united, faith is strengthened, burdens are carried by the Body, and the Word of the Lord comes forth in clarity.

So for the months of June and July, we are inviting our entire church family into a focused season of corporate prayer. While this is not the shape the Prayer Room will take on forever, we feel from the Holy Spirit that this is a Kairos season of seeking the Lord together as we prepare for what He is building in and through our church.

Beginning next week on June 9th, we will gather weekly at our new property to pray, worship, walk the land, and contend together for all that God desires to do in the days ahead.

Weekly Prayer Gatherings:

• Tuesdays at 6:00 AM
• Wednesdays at 6:15 PM
• Thursdays at 12:00 PM

Some gatherings will include worship. Some will include prayer walks around the property. Others may involve praying over specific areas of the building and asking the Lord for His blessing and direction. Each gathering will be simple, and focused on seeking God together. We encourage you to come ready to hear the Lord and log what you are hearing so it can be shared. It strengthens our faith so deeply when the Lord confirms His word through the family of God.

Whether you've spent years in prayer ministry or have never attended a prayer gathering before, these times are for you and we want you to be a part of them!

You don't need: special experience, the right words, or to feel like an expert.

You do need: to simply come with a willingness to pray, listen, and share as He leads.

The book of Nehemiah repeatedly tells us that the wall was rebuilt because every family took responsibility for the section in front of them. The work was accomplished because people stood shoulder-to-shoulder, each contributing what they could.

We believe God is calling us into that same kind of shared ownership.

This building will one day host worship, day and night prayer, discipleship, children's ministry, meals, celebrations, baptisms, healing, counseling, friendship, and countless stories of lives transformed by Jesus. Yet before any of those things happen, we want to dedicate this season to seeking the Lord together and inviting Him to establish His presence among us.

Our prayer is not merely that a building would be completed, our prayer is that God would form us into a praying people and that future generations would look back and see that before the walls were finished, the people gathered to pray and possess the land.

We cannot wait to see what the Lord will do! We'll see you on the property,

Blessings,

Hope Wright

• what to expect in the prayer room •

When you attend a prayer set, you can expect to be guided through a scripture focused theme, engage in moments of worship —both corporate and spontaneous— and spend time meditating on the passage through silence, singing the word, and praying the word.

We are firm believers that history will be shaped by the praying church. We invite you to join us as we put our stake in the ground and contend for the kingdoms of this world to become the Kingdoms of our God.
