Daniel Fast Substitution List

Milk. It’s so easy to substitute for dairy milk in a recipe. You can use coconut milk, rice milk, or nut milk such as almond or cashew measure for measure.

Cream. Substitute coconut cream or coconut milk (in a can) for a thick creamy substitute. Coconut Cream thickens up best when kept in the refrigerator.

Eggs. In baked goods, good substitutions for eggs include applesauce, pureed soft tofu, a flax egg (1 tablespoon ground flax seeds plus 3 tablespoons water, blended), or mashed bananas. You’ll have to experiment with your recipe to see what works best for you.

In dishes where eggs are usually used for binding (such as meatloaf) you can use oat flour, rolled oats, cooked oatmeal, nut butters, tomato paste, or cornstarch.

Beef or chicken stock. Replace beef or chicken stock with vegetable broth. Or use vegetable bouillon cubes.

Breadcrumbs. Substitute almond meal or corn meal.

Meat. Sub meat for tofu or a hearty vegetable like Zucchini, Eggplant, or Sweet Potato
