CONGRATULATIONS!

Deciding to start a relationship with God, through His Son Jesus, is the most important decision you will make. This decision has given you a clean slate, an eternal home and impacts the generations to come.

If you haven’t had a chance to fill out this First Time Decision form, please do this FIRST so we can follow up with you!

Becoming a Christian means that you have:

  1. Admitted you have missed the mark (sinned) and cannot live a perfect life according to God’s standard. (Romans 3:23)

  2. Believed that Jesus lived a perfect life, died to pay the price for your sin and rose from the dead so that you could be forgiven. (Romans 5:8)

  3. Confessed with your mouth that Jesus is your Savior and you will live your life for Him.  (Romans 10:9)

At Big House Church, our mission is to equip you to live in the freedom a relationship with Jesus brings. That freedom is found by knowing Him, loving Him, and seeing yourself as God does. Below you will find 5 simple steps to help you grow and be victorious on this journey.

We pray these resources bless you and draw you closer to Jesus every day. May the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26)

Step 1: PRAY

Prayer is simply talking with God as we would with anyone we love and trust. When we pray, we get to know the heart of God. Prayer is not a religious duty, but rather an opportunity to find out who God is, who we were created to be and to hear from the Creator of the Universe. Remember communication goes both ways. Do not forget to sit and listen for God’s answers. As you take time to pray, He will begin to speak to you. (James 4:8)

Step 2: READ YOUR BIBLE

We believe the Holy Bible is the authoritative Word of God. It alone is the final authority in determining all doctrinal truths. In its original writing, it is inspired, infallible and inerrant. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Proverbs 30:5; Romans 16:25-26)

Reading your Bible every day is as important as eating food every day. (Matthew 4:4) Gods Word brings life to dead situations, wisdom in confusion and reveals truth that will challenge us and change us to be more like Him. If you are new to reading the Bible, start in the Gospel of John, or find a Bible reading plan. The truths in God’s Word, if applied, will transform your thinking, choices and life.

Step 3: GET BAPTIZED in water

Water baptism represents the death burial and resurrection of Jesus. It is an outward expression of dying to our old life and sins. As we go under the water, we leave the “old man” and past behind and rise out of the water in to a new life. (1 Peter 3:21; Colossians 2:12; Acts 2:38) Jesus, Himself, was baptized and He told the disciples to do the same. (Matthew 28:19-20)

Step 4: GET BAPTIZED in the Holy Spirit

God sent the gift of His Holy Spirit to empower us to live this Christian life. The Bible says the Holy Spirit is our Helper (John 16:7), Counselor (John 14:16), Teacher and Comforter (John 14:26).  The same resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to us as believers. (Ephesians 1:19-20) Through this power we have the ability to overcome sin and temptation, to find joy and hope in difficult situations, and to live with the assurance that we will be raised to new life with Christ after death. This gift is freely given to us. All you have to do is ask God to be filled.

Step 5: CONNECT & COMMIT

We believe that the church is the family of God, a spiritual house of believers. It is a community of believers who gather together to worship Jesus, encourage each other and to serve those in need.  We are not meant to live life alone. (Hebrews 10:25)  Find a local Bible believing church and get connected. It’s a place where you can grow, discover your calling and build relationships with other believers.  If you do not have a local church, we would love to welcome you home to Big House!

After receiving a fresh start with Jesus, you are now carrying the answer of hope, joy peace and love everywhere you go. Others need to hear this good news. You are called to be a light in the darkness (Matthew 5:15-16) It’s as simple as telling others what Jesus has done in your life.  Jesus told us to go into the world and preach the gospel (Mark 16:15). If others can tell us what they did over the weekend with excitement, how much more should we tell them about our God who can save and transform their life?
