Big House Bible Classes | Spring 2024 Semester

Big House is excited to be offering bible classes twice a month in Norfolk at 7 PM. Our spring semester will be the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of March-May, starting on March 13, ending on May 22. This 6 week class will be focusing on a biblical overview, spiritual formation, and the commandments of Christ over the course of 3 months. We ask that you please register below so we can plan accordingly.

Kids Ministry Vision Dinner

We are thrilled to announce that the Big House Kids Ministry team will be hosting our very first Kids Ministry Vision Dinner! This will be a special night that our leadership team, volunteers, and parents come together over a meal to celebrate the beautiful work of the Lord unfolding in BH Kids through testimony and vision casting into this precious ministry.

We want to extend this invitation to all of our current and prospective volunteers, as well as all Big House kids parents! We would love to give the opportunity for you all to hear more of the heart behind our deepest desires and prayers for the ministry, connect with one another, and express our sincere gratitude for all that your dedication has made space for in carrying out the work of the Holy Spirit in this ministry!

Join us for this special night of celebration, testimony, connection and prayer. Childcare will be provided only for children ages 0-3. If you will have need of it, please mark “yes” on the registration form.

We politely request that RSVPs be made by no later than Wednesday, April 17th.

April 28 Combined Service @ Chesapeake City Park

On Sunday, April 28, we’re taking church to the park!!! Due to a blackout date for the Z, we will NOT have services at our usual location at 9 & 11 AM. Instead, we are coming together for a church picnic at the beautiful Chesapeake City Park at 10 AM!

We will have a brief message, some worship, but mostly fellowship together. BBQ + hot dogs provided, but please bring sides and treats to share if you like (recommended sides that can hold for 2 hours until Lunch starts at 12 PM!) Bring some park toys and games, lawn or beach chairs/blankets to sit on and get ready for a beautiful day together.

Plan for 75-80 degree weather! Lots of water, sunscreen, and shade options if you need it!

For parking, we ask that you please park in the main lot located by the Market Place/Fun Forest area, but if you’re needing to drop off, there is a small lot by Pavilion 14, where we’ll be setup for the day after worship at Bagley Stage. For those who need more accessible parking (elderly, injured, or new moms), we will have some reserved parking spots at that lots by Pavilion 14 for you.

Harbor

Big House Women! You are invited to our next Harbor gathering on Friday, April 19th at 7 PM! This event’s theme is about remaining - how we stay connected to Jesus and to each other. Bring a gal pal and don’t miss this night!

WHAT IS HARBOR?
Harbor is a quarterly corporate gathering of the women of Big House Church to connect in worship, protect one another through prayer & grow together in the word and the sharing of stories. our launch event will take place at the New Life Church Ghent location in the sanctuary from 7-10 PM.

CHILDCARE
Childcare is provided for nursing babies during the event. Please email Lucia Vasquez at lucia@bighousechurch.com by April 15 to register your nursing baby. Additionally, childcare will be considered up to age 11 for those with special circumstances. Email Lucia to submit a request at lucia@bighousechurch.com by April 15 for consideration. Approval of request is required for special circumstances and available on a first come first serve basis.

24 Hour Burn

Our desire is to begin this year, enthroning Jesus above every other idol that may be in our lives and dethroning those things to make room for Him to transform us. To end our 21 Day “Enthroned” Fast, we are hosting a 24 Hour BURN! This is 24 hours of nonstop worship & prayer and all are invited!

Due to a scheduling error, this coming Sunday, January 21st, we are shifting gears and will host ONLY 1 service at 11 AM located at the Marriott Oceanfront Virginia Beach Resort (across the street from the Cavalier Hotel on the ocean side). See all details below:

LOCATION:
The Marriott Oceanfront Virginia Beach Resort address is 4201 Atlantic Ave, Virginia Beach, VA 23451. Our service will be held in the Main Seaside Ballroom on Level 2 of the hotel. (See below for BH Kids Room locations.)

DROP OFF & PARKING:
There is a drop off area at the front of the hotel that leads you to the lobby. Once you enter, there will be greeters and BH signs pointing towards the elevators to take you to the 2nd floor where all of our rooms are located!For those parking in the garage after dropping off, you’ll want to park and enter the hotel on Level 2 where the ballrooms are, or take the elevators/use the stairway access if you’re parked on other levels.

PARKING FEES:
There is a parking fee for the hotel garage.

  • 0-3 hours is a $3 flat rate.

  • 3-6 hours is a $15 flat rate.

  • 6-10 hours is a $20 flat rate.

  • Limited free parking is available in the neighborhoods to the north of the hotel along the oceanfront anywhere past 42nd street where you can walk back to the hotel and use the elevators on the lobby floor. Please respect parking signs and people’s homes/driveways when parking in these areas.

BIG HOUSE KIDS:
Big House Kids will be in smaller marked rooms in the hallway next to the Main Seaside Ballroom. For your prior knowledge, here are the room names for each classroom on Level 2:

  • Dorsey - Upper Elementary

  • Goodman - Lower Elementary

  • Callaway - Pre-K

  • Miller - Nursery

  • Kaye - Toddler

January 2024 Fast | ENTHRONED

Psalm 22:3 says “But you are holy, enthroned on the praise of Israel"." As we launch into 2024, we invite you to join us in fasting, prayer, and worship as we dethrone every idol God identifies in us and enthrone the King of Glory, JESUS! This month’s teaching will be centered on the enthronement of God in the earth, and in our own lives. When we fast, we make space for MORE of God! There will be lots of opportunities to minister to Jesus together (see information below!)

In addition to a biblical food fast, our staff and leadership will also be engaging in a digital media fast as well, so for the remainder of the month will not be posting to social media or sending church-wide email updates. This will also be our final service at the Ghent campus (bittersweet!) and then we will meet in the new year on January 3rd at our new space at the New Life Town Center Campus!

Christmas Outreach | Connect a Wish

We are partnering with Connect a Wish, a local non profit agency that serves Virgina Beach Foster Families. They have a big event on 12/14 where the local foster families get to have snacks, make crafts, and every child in the family will walk away with a gift. They’re biggest need every year is gifts for their teenagers! As a church we will be collecting unwrapped gifts for girls and boys ages 11-18. Here’s a list of gift suggestions to bring to church BY DECEMBER 8TH:

  • Gift cards for stores: Ulta, Target, Walmart, Clothing stores, Best Buy, Nike, Bookstores, etc.

BH Youth Fall Retreat

We’re taking our youth back to YMCA Camp Silver Beach on the Eastern Shore for our 3rdannual Fall Retreat! The weekend will be focused on the image of Christ. We will dive deep into the word discovering our identity in Christ and who the Father says we are.

We will be located in the Ballroom on the 1st floor and kids will be on the 2nd floor (look for the Big House Church sign outside and BHKids signs inside to guide you!). We believe God is going to move amongst us as we unite under one roof. Come expectant and with a heart to worship the living God!

OneFocus Conference | Night Sessions

ABOUT: This conference will teach the principles of Mind Renewing Healing Prayer as the foundational core principles of healing the brokenhearted. Join us as we invoke the Presence of God through praise and worship led by the Big House Church Worship Team. There will be teaching, experiential and group exercises and a workbook to facilitate your healing journey. We will focus on the key aspects of healing such as: 

  • Identify areas of past unresolved wounds, abuse, addiction and mental disorders. 

  • Learn how core foundational lies, interpreted from wounds in our childhood develop into mental strongholds which need to be identified and renewed through a Holy Spirit led truth encounter. 

  • Explore how unresolved grief is at the core of many problems and learn to grieve effectively. 

  • Deal effectively with buried anger, resentment and unforgiveness. 

  • Frank will do live Mind Renewing Healing Prayer sessions to demonstrate the healing prayer process.

FREEDOM Groups Launch

Our Freedom Groups are launching a new semester for a 12 week study through the Freedom curriculum written by Church of the Highlands. The testimonies we heard from last semester are incredible and we can’t to see more people free through this journey. The 12 week study will end with a 2 day Freedom Conference on November 17-18 for all group members.

If you’re ready to join a Freedom group this semester starting the last week of August, click the button below to join one of the several being hosted by amazing leaders! Be sure to get signed up for one no later than mid August so we can get you a book and all the details you’ll need for your group!

Freedom books will be sold on Sunday mornings through the month of August, or you can purchase one and receive it on your first night of your group meeting.

Promotion Sunday | BH Kids Move up a Class!

We are excited to begin the tradition every August approaching the new school year, for kids to move up a grade a change classes if they’re ready! Sunday, August 27th, our BH Kids will transition the following classes:

  • Toddlers who are 3 years old and potty trained can move to the Pre-K class.

  • Pre-K students going into Kindergarten move to Lower Elementary class in the Studio Theatre.

  • Lower Elementary students who are going into 4th grade move to the Upper Elementary class in the Lobby Classroom.

  • Upper Elementary students who are going in 6th grade will graduate from Kids Church and be invited to join the youth group that Wednesday, August 30th at the Bay (details on the BH Youth page HERE).
