Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. (Psalm 100:4)
Nothing sets the atmosphere for effectual, prevailing prayer like thanksgiving and praise! Thanksgiving and praise are the life-breath of the believer, a constant reminder that all we are and all we have come from His loving heart. As we continue to understand the magnitude of what our Father has done for us and in us through the gift of His Son and the Holy Spirit, we can’t help but live in the river of ever-flowing thanksgiving and praise.
The beauty of thanksgiving and praise is that it takes the focus off of us and our needs, and puts it on the One who is worthy of all, the One “who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine....” (Ephesians 3:20) In the light of His power and glory, we see our Father as the ultimate answer to every need and question – “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) So, thank Him and praise Him… ”For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting and His faithfulness to all generations.” (Psalm 100:5)
Prayer: Father, open my eyes to see you as you truly are – a loving Daddy who delights in filling my life with every good thing. Help me to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness you are. May every breath I take be filled with thanksgiving and praise for who you are and all that you’ve done for me. In the precious Name of your Son, Jesus. Amen!
